Lakeside Health System Closes Hospital
Brockport, NY April 26, 2013 – Lakeside Health System’s acute care hospital will be closing its doors today, Friday, April 26th at 5pm. Earlier, at 2pm, Lakeside’s Emergency Department stopped receiving patients. Once all patients are discharged, support services such as diagnostics and imaging will cease and those departments will close. Any remaining inpatients will be transferred to area hospitals by 11pm tonight.
Monroe Ambulance will be stationed at Lakeside Hospital 24/7 for the next two weeks, starting at 2pm today until Friday, May 10th. “EMS services are provided as a precaution,” said Stacy Wright, hospital spokesperson. “We are working with Monroe Ambulance to ensure no one arrives here needing emergency services, only to find out the hospital has closed.” Lakeside is also working with NYS DOT to remove or cover any existing blue hospital signs posted in the surrounding area.
ACM lab, located in the hospital via the Radiology Department entrance, will remain open to the public for blood draws. All other departments are scheduled to close at 5pm today. Lakeside’s two Primary Care practices, Urgent Care in Spencerport, and Beikirch Care Center are not part of this closure announcement.
Those remaining at Lakeside will be a group of core personnel needed for the closure process.
