Personal Trusted Care
That Puts The Patient First.
“Quality of care” means different things to different people. It can be defined as everything from a good bedside manner to cutting-edge procedures to less complications from surgery. At Lakeside, it means all this and more. Everything we do stems from one overarching principle of care: what is best for our patients?
As a smaller hospital, we are able to take time with our patients, to get to know each one individually (if we don’t know you already), and to take into account the many factors that affect their health such as medical history, environment, and lifestyle. Timely evaluation, accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and thorough follow-up are the basic elements of good care at Lakeside. Physician judgment, patient participation, and an experienced staff are also critical. Over the past few years, we have attracted top-quality physicians from well-known regional hospitals and adapted new processes to enhance our services. As a result, we now have one of the highest patient satisfaction rates in the region.
Quality of care at Lakeside can also be measured in the small moments that make your stay with us easier—doctors and nurses who take the time to listen; a caring, family atmosphere; and a personal, holistic approach to patient health.
Quality of Care
Hospital Quality Measures (Core Measures reported to CMS/Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) – Standards of patient care that result in decreased mortality, morbidity, disability, length of stay, and readmission rates. The measure represents the percentage of eligible patients who receive the care represented by that measure in order to deliver high quality care every time.
CMS National Clinical Focus Areas:
- Heart Failure/HF – Common diagnosis in elderly population, accounts for more hospital admissions than any other diagnosis in patients 65 years and older
- Acute Myocardial Infarction/AMI (Heart Attack) – Approximately 1.1 million people per year experience a heart attack Cardiovascular disease is America’s biggest killer
- Pneumonia/PNA – PNA and influenza are the 5th leading cause of death in people 65 years and older
- Surgical Care Improvement Project /SCIP – Refers to the impact of surgical care complications Post-op complications are responsible for 22% of deaths in surgical patients.
